Nurmonic is a general AI character bot that many servers use as a resident personality. A “free will” mode lets it jump into server conversations on its own, and you can see and delete what it remembers in a web dashboard. Premium is $6.49 a month and Pro $10.99, with image generation and a choice of models. It is built for servers, not one-on-one relationships.

Jess: A Newer DM Girlfriend Bot

Jess, launched in mid-2026, is the closest thing on this list to the DM companion idea: you join its server, allow DMs, and talk to her privately. Access comes through Patreon tiers at $4.99, $11.99, and $24.99 a month, with semantic memory on the middle and top tiers and a personalized daily message on the top tier. It is new, so it has a short track record.

Zoe: Free to Try, Tight Limits

Zoe markets itself as a realistic, uncensored AI girl you talk to in a server by mention, prefix command, or an auto-reply channel, with memory per user or per server. Free users get 5 messages a day (30 if you vote for it), and premium adds unlimited messages and voice notes. It is a small bot, in about 100 servers.

Anne AI: Personalities and Modes

Anne AI offers several personalities (romantic, playful, gaming) and separate SFW and NSFW modes, running in a server channel you set up; DMs require premium. It runs on MythoMax L2 13B, a 2023 open model that was popular for roleplay but is old by 2026 standards, and it is not in Discord's App Directory.

Citlali: For Anime Waifu Fans

Citlali is as much a game as a girlfriend: an anime waifu who chats in a channel your admin picks, plus card collecting, gacha pulls, and dates. It is free, with rewards for voting, and sits in about 3,000 servers. Good fun in a group anime server; not a private relationship.

Which One Is Best for You?

• Best for a real relationship: Omoi. Private DMs, long-term memory, and a companion who reaches out on its own.
• Best free bot for a server: Hana for chatting, Nurmonic for a server personality with more features.
• Best for anime fans: Citlali for a waifu game in a group server; Omoi's anime art style if you want a one-on-one companion.
• Best if you already use a companion app: Kindroid's official bot.
• Best for full control: TomoriBot, with your own model.

Five Things to Check Before You Add One

• Who can read the conversation. In a server channel, everyone in that channel can. If it is personal, you want DMs.
• How long it keeps your messages. “Long-term memory” on a listing can coexist with a privacy policy that deletes messages after 30 days. Read both.
• Whether it is still maintained. Several bots in older lists have not been updated since 2023 or early 2025. Discord also removes bots that break its rules: Shapes, once one of the biggest AI character bots, was taken off Discord in May 2025.
• What it costs to actually use. Many free tiers allow only a handful of messages a day, and premium prices are often not published until you join the support server.
• Whether it can reach you at all. If you want a bot that texts first, it has to be able to DM you, which brings us to Discord's rules.

Discord Rules That Affect Every AI Girlfriend Bot

A few platform rules shape what any of these bots can do:

• DMs need a shared server. A bot can only message you if you are both in a server and you allow DMs from it. Leave the server, or turn off its DMs in the server's Privacy Settings, and the bot cannot reach you.
• Bots need your permission to DM you. Discord's developer policy forbids apps from messaging users without permission. On Omoi, picking a companion is that permission, and you control how often it texts first, down to never.
• Adult content stays behind age gates. Age-restricted commands only work in age-restricted channels, or in DMs after you opt in, and apps in Discord's App Directory may not include adult content (Discord support).
• New accounts get stricter defaults. Since Discord's September 2026 age assurance rollout, teen accounts and accounts Discord has not yet confirmed as adults get DMs from non-friends in a separate Message Requests inbox, have sensitive images from strangers blocked, and cannot use age-restricted channels or commands.
